Thank you for being a Capital Protection Loyal Customer. We Will offer you a basic answer to your questions and how to temporarily solve the problem until a technician could get to you.
The most common problem Is the Battery is low or you have no power to the unit and the battery is dying.
If your battery is low, your system will still work on electrical power only.
To know which of the two problems is happening, call your Central Station ( If it is CMS please call 1(800)882-6565, or if it is Central One Please call 1(866)568-3833)and ask what kind of trouble Signal they are getting on the screen, or you can press *2 on your control pad and see what light indicator goes on and check your manual to interpret the message. For Example Light #1 goes on when pressing *2 , in a DSC System you must press 1 again to see exactly if is the battery or the power the problem, if it is light 1 again that lights up then it is the battery if is light 2 then there is no electricity feeding the alarm.
Most Caddx owners do posses a manual. If you Do not, you can Download the User manual from www.gesecurity.com then type on the product seach box the model of your keypad then press go, ( If your Keypad has lights 1 thru 8 Type NX-1308E) The page will produce results and just have to search for the NX-1308E by it self Link. You will have to register to be able to download. If your Keypad has plain English display, then Type NX-148E or The NX-148 on the search box.
If in fact it is the battery It could be replaced. CAPITAL PROTECTION DOES NOT WARRANTY BATTERIES OVER 90 DAYS OLD. They could be obtain at Home Depot or a near by Radio Shack. The Type is Usually 12 volts DC, 4 amps.
To Replace your battery, you must know the location of the main Control BOX. Just loosen the cables on the old battery and connect the new one matching the color wires with terminals.
IF your Unit is completely Off( means no lights at all) Then your alarm system is not getting any electricity to the transformer. During Christmas time this happens a lot due to X-lights tripping breakers when it rains or overloading the GFI outlet that is also part of the electrical circuit were the alarm transformer is plugged in. Please be sure that you checked this before calling or scheduling an appointment.
CAPITAL PROTECTION NEEDS 24 HRS NOTICE TO SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE. CUSTOMERS WITH MAINTENANCE PLANS CAN GET FREE SERVICE MONDAY THRU FRIDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9AM TO 5 PM. IF IT IS AN EMERGENCY PLEASE CALL(407)380-0563. at any time. EMERGENCY SERVICE IS REQUESTED AFTER HRS OR DURING WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS, A $126.00 FEE MUST BE COLLECTED BEFORE SERVICING THE UNIT.
IF YOUR ALARM IS NOT TRANSMITTING TO THE CENTRAL STATION:
Telephone line troubles
If the trouble display indicates that there is a telephone line trouble you should know this: You can always check the line by plugging a standard telephone set to the telephone interface jack on the side or inside of the Burglar Alarm Control Panel.
IF THERE IS TELEPHONE LINE BUT THE ALARM DOES NOT TRANSMIT.
There are two reasons for the alarm not being able to transmit. The First is the communicator has failed due to a lightning storm or power surge. Then it must be replaced or you recently switch your phone service to a digital provider like VONAGE or BRIGHTHOUSE. By swithching your service to one of this carriers you have done something inadvertly: MOST ALARM PANELS BURGLAR OR FIRE, CAN NOT SUPPORT THE DIGITAL VOICE OR DATA EXCHANGE FROM THOSE CARRIERS.
SOLUTION: get a residential lan line from Bellsouth or Sprint or Bell Atlantic or any main local carrier that installs analog service. Some companies run special just for these alarm service for as low as $22.00/mo. plus Tax Of course, Or , get our brand new Wireless GSM RADIO For residential and commercial burglar alarms and get rid of the monkey on your back!
